I must admit I’m extremely relieved. IIT Delhi student who allegedly murdered his neighbor, a Naga girl from Manipur, has finally confessed to murdering Ramchanphy Hongry, according to Police report. The accused, Pushpam Sinha, hails from Patna and was doing his PhD in Wave Mechanics from IIT-Delhi on a monthly scholarship of Rs 14,000. Police are now trying to determine if the victim was raped first or not.
I was shocked when I heard the news yesterday, especially since he’s from IIT. But in a way, I think justice will be met quicker as he’s from IIT and everyone’s talking about it. Had he been a nobody, this news section would probably just occupy, maybe, one small corner of the newspaper under “Nation”.

New Delhi: The student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi who was arrested and charged with killing a 19-year-old woman from Nagaland will be taken to court later on Monday, police said.
“He has confessed his crime,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) H G S Dhaliwal told IANS, referring to Pushpam Sinha, a 34-year-old PhD student at IIT Delhi.
“On Saturday, the victim was alone at her sister rented accommodation in Munirka (in south Delhi). The accused Pushpam Sinha somehow entered her house and tried to rape her,” said a senior police officer.
