Aizawl Aug 3: Following rumours that the Mizoram Congress Party, a splinter group of the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee which broke away last year, is on the verge of a split, the party president J. Lalsangzuala today admitted to press people that differences had cropped up among party members.
Speaking to reporters who went to the MCP headquarters here today, Lalsangzuala said the reason behind the differences was that while some members wanted to cut off ties with the MNF, there are others who still prefer a tie-up with the MNF.
This newspaper, however, learnt that several committees had passed a move to break off ties with the MNF party sometime back and that it had been decided by the high command of the MCP party that the announcement of the break-off would be made at a state council meeting that had been slated for July 25, 2007. However, the intended state council meeting never materialized and the resentment in the group for breaking off ties with the MNF had grown considerably.
In fact, a couple holding top positions in the party had left the MCP in disgust. A source today said
