Dear Alex,
The above particular post of mine was an attempt to look at the importance of culture and it’s influence on Christianity which imparts a set of rituals and practices within the Church that enforces and strengthens religious beliefs, and the arguments that arises between the conformists and non-conformists of such societal rules. I tried to bring out the sociological phenomenon of “unwritten rules” that gets framed wherever a society exists, which is a difficult barrier to break once it becomes a part of the society.
Looking at my post bluntly and the way Benjamin highlighted the particular image with a sensational headline which was quite uncalled for to a certain degree, one might wonder the exact comment you made, although the above image was just a 2×2 pastime graph I designed which was only included in the footnote in relation to my previous post that was more opinionated than this current post. This post on the other hand tried to look at both sides of the coin bringing into context an important part of every society: culture’s influence. My post clearly states that the kind of clothes I put up on that graph, could indeed vary from person to person, and more importantly, culture to culture.

The dress code seems to cater to mainly western and Indian people. In parts of Asia, Africa and Middle East, wearing traditional dress of various kinds to church are not only alright, but even expected. Climatic and weather conditions, condition of living, social background and other factors also play major roles.

i feel this is a bit extreme to make guidelines what to wear n what not to wear in the church…..at the end of the day…our relationship with God is what matter most…let them wear anything what ever they r comfi with y bother???/

Since Sandman finds the title sensational, I replaced “guide” with “chart”.
To me, be it a any type of chart, veritical or horizontal list, end of the day what is the message it conveys?
Yes, follow the link provided and read the article before forming your opinion.

one reason why i hate going to church when i’m in aizawl is that i have to “dress up” ( do go to church when i can else where…WILLINGLY!). I wore pants once and ppl gave me the “look” and i was told that it was not appropriate. Give me a break…don’t ppl have better issues to deal with!

I think the best guide for church will be: What will you wear if you are to meet your future boss (or wife/husband) for the first time ? You may not wear “Objectionable” attire as listed by Sandman. If you are to meet Jesus Christ in person, you may not like to wear ’skirt with long slits’ or ‘revealing navel peircings or tattoos’.
