Ti leh te ang…Saw this on rediff.com. Quite a comprehensive write-up on the concert.
No excuses: if you weren’t in Bangalore on March 17, you are not a metal-head. The event was christened Eddfest, and packing Palace Grounds to capacity were a crowd of about 20,000 fanatics from across the subcontinent, flag-bearing contingents coming from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and even diehard Edd-heads from Australia and the UK.
Iron Maiden came to town, and what a night they made of it!

FTN started out of sync. That made me jump to conclusions… pretty accurate one though.
Parikrama did well. i recognised the guitarist as someone I’ve seen back home. Masi ruaithehnaah ka hmu tawh tlatin ka hria
Lauren Harris… no comment out of courtesy to daddy Harris. I was hoping the crowd would do the same… they didn’t. Lots of 4-lettered words (and a couple of inflated condoms) flyin around.
The sound was B-A-D… mushy all round. Couldn’t hear the guitars properly, the vocals didn’t stand out either. Heard mostly drums and bass… yet the typical Steve Harris sound failed to shine through. Was hoping to hear lotss of the duet guitar solos… but all got lost somewhere in the mix.
They could have EQ’ed at least the vocals. It was booming even by itself when Bruce Dickinson was speaking without any music (yeah… people usually speak without music, but)
Even so, sound wasn’t that significantly bad compared to other shows I’ve been, but I was hopin for much more. since I had read they were bringin “the whole stage” with them. True, stage was impressive with a big Tank rolling out of nowhere and a 15 feet (or so) Eddie walkin around stage. And yeah, background changing all the time. But i guess they were not involved in the FOH.
This i took … 3:30 pm… way b4 show started

Yup, that’s Sonam (from Darjeeling) – btw, his wife’s mizo. They used to be friends of mine way back in the DU days. That time Parikrama was a KMC (Kirori Mal College) band and were just forming, and they were auditioning for a guitarist. Sonam was a fresher and they asked him to play the riffs of ‘Another brick in the wall’ (Floyd). Since he didn’t know it he took the cassette to his room and played it perfectly well the next day. They didn’t believe he didn’t know the song before, so they gave him something else to play, which again he did, and that’s how he joined Parikrama.
